elcome to The Linda Horowitz Cancer Research Foundation website. This foundation was established in January 2004, shortly after our beloved Linda passed away from a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Linda was an extremely warm, kind, caring, and courageous woman with wholehearted empathy for life and living. With the inspiration and love she has left us with, we hope to create a legacy for her and others.
Our foundation was formed to honor Linda's memory, provide important funds for cancer research and help others in their fight against cancer. Through the incredible support of our donors, we recently completed our first financial commitment of $1 million to The Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health at Weill Cornell Medical Center, and look forward to continuing to raise funds to further benefit important cancer research projects at this center, as well as other cancer-care facilities throughout the country.
Please take a moment to browse through our website. As with many foundations established by the family of a lost loved one, we hold this one very dear to our hearts. While preserving Linda's memory and all that she stood for, we have a two-fold mission - firstly, to provide financial support to the medical community to promote important cancer research, and secondly, to promote the human element in managing this disease which is something that should be recognized as an integral part of a patient's treatment. Happily, this last part of our mission is not something that costs money or involves extensive research.
If cancer has affected you or a loved one, we invite you to share your experiences, treatments and feelings with us. And just as important as all our hardwork, we will be happy to direct you to a multitude of qualified doctors who perhaps can assist you or your loved one with their fight.
We hope you will join us in the fight against this terrible disease.
